Two 18-year-old Hamilton males have been charged over the weekend with stunt driving after police observed them on Main Street.
On April 21 2019, near 19:00, Hamilton Police Service (HPS) were in the area of Main Street East and King Street East when they heard sounds of two engines racing. Further investigation revealed that a blue Subura BRZ and a black Chevy Cobalt were traveling at a high rate of speed on Main Street. The vehicles reportedly passed a police officer and continued. Several blocks later, police were able to initiate a stop for both vehicles that were racing.
Both drivers have been issued court dates for “Racing a motor vehicle” under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act. They are scheduled to appear in court on May 13th 2019. At this time their licenses have been suspended for seven days and their vehicles were impounded. Police have also told us that the driver of the Cobalt was charged back in 2018 with stunt driving.
